This artist's illustration shows the gigantic ancient frog Beelzebufo ampigna
face-to-face with a modern frog, with a pencil added for scale. Scientists on
February 18, 2008 announced the discovery in northwestern Madagascar of this
bulky amphibian dubbed the "devil frog" that lived 65 to 70 millions years ago
and was so nasty that it may have eaten newborn dinosaurs. Beelzebufo was
16 inches (41 cm) long and weighed an estimated 10 pounds (4.5 kg).
